Support Firefly Children and Family Alliance

Making a gift can go a long way making a difference in lives across the state

WAYS TO GIVE

Our supporters come from all walks of life. Some supporters volunteer; some make donations; some advocate; and some develop partnerships. No matter how you choose to support us, you can make a positive impact. By supporting Firefly Children and Family Alliance, you’re supporting the thousands of Indiana children, families and adults who rely on our services. Put your passion to work today.

Make a Gift Today

We couldn’t provide our services without the support of our donors. By making a financial gift, you’re directly supporting our efforts to prevent child abuse, keep families together, help foster children and foster parents and assist Hoosiers struggling with mental health challenges. We have several ways to donate, include in-kind donations and through donor-advised funds.

Join the Sparkle Society

Did you know that a group of fireflies is called a sparkle? When you join the Sparkle Society, you’re contributing more than just your dollars—you’re contributing your bit of light to help us shine even brighter.

With a monthly donation of as little as $5, you can become part of something bigger. Along with helping strengthen Firefly’s mission through giving, members receive access to Sparkle Society meetups, special events, and more.

Events

Foster Care Tax Credits

Firefly is proud to participate in the Indiana Foster Care Donation Tax Credit program due to our provision of foster care services and support for young adults transitioning out of foster care. This program enables us to offer a valuable benefit to our generous donors.

Gifts of Stock

Making a gift of appreciated securities to Firefly has benefits for both the donor and us. The donor does not incur capital gains taxes, the donor takes an immediate federal income tax deduction equal to the full fair market value so long as they itemize, and support to Firefly is maximized to its greatest impact. To learn more or to receive specific stock transfer instructions, please contact Chief Development Officer Tim Ardillo, CFRE at tardillo@fireflyin.org or 317.501.6368.

Giving Through an IRA

Did you know that individuals age 70½ or older can make an outright gift of as much as $100,000 annually to Firefly from a traditional IRA? The IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals age 70½ or older to make an outright gift of as much as $100,000 annually to Firefly from a traditional IRA. The withdrawal amount may count toward your annual required minimum distribution (RMD). Although the RMD is not required until age 73, the QCD can be particularly beneficial for donors who do not itemize and instead file the standard deduction. To learn more, please contact Chief Development Officer Tim Ardillo, CFRE at tardillo@fireflyin.org or 317.501.6368.

Planned Giving

When you include Firefly in your estate plan, your kindness empowers individuals to build stronger families and communities. Thank you for ensuring that Firefly can serve parents, children, and individuals well into the future.

Roberta West Nicholson Society

The Roberta West Nicholson Society acknowledges and honors individuals who have made provisions for the inclusion of Firefly Children and Family Alliance in their estate plans.

It is named in tribute to Roberta West Nicholson, who served as the president of the organization’s board of directors during the 1940s and continued to contribute actively to the agency throughout her lifetime. Mrs. Nicholson’s notable accomplishments include being the sole female member of the 1935 state legislature and her unwavering advocacy for the rights and welfare of women and children.

In-kind Giving

Through in-kind donation, you can bring joy to a child’s life by offering them school supplies, clothing, or toys that they may otherwise not have access to. You also have the option to acquire items from our curated Amazon Wish List to contribute towards this cause.

Hope for the Holidays

Hope for the Holidays is a way for companies and individuals to give the gift of hope. Last year, this program supported more than 1,700 children. Approximately 90% of them were sponsored by an individual or corporation and the remaining ‘un-sponsored’ families received assistance from cash donations.
