HELP MAYA REACH HER GOAL

About Maya

My name is Maya Mason, and I am a freshman at Indiana University. This semester, I am taking a class, Cutting Edge of Kindness and have created a Making an Impact Project. This project is intended to help improve the community in some way.

My goal is to raise awareness for Firefly Children & Family Alliance. Firefly is a non-profit organization that delivers critical services to Indiana families in need, including child abuse prevention, home-based services, youth placement, and recovery services. 

I feel that Firefly is a remarkable non-profit to support because it impacts families throughout the state. So many kids my age have been through the system and did not grow up the way I did. They have more limited resources when attending college to help pay for things like necessities, toiletries, clothing, money for food, etc.  

I am raising money to donate to Firefly to help kids starting college with these basic needs. The intent is that it will relieve some financial stress for those students, as they have more stress than a typical college student who doesn’t have to worry about affording essential items.
