VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Our volunteers play a critical role in our mission to empower individuals to build stronger families and communities

Our volunteers change lives

Volunteers help us carry out our mission to support Indiana children and families. Each year, volunteers contribute more than 8,000 hours of service to Firefly Children and Family Alliance. And we’re always looking for additional volunteers. Whether you live in the Indianapolis area or another central Indiana community, we want your support. We have volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, companies, organizations and more.
Volunteer Requirements

Volunteer opportunities typically include:

  • Special Events
  • Sorting and Organizing
  • Survivor Advocacy
  • Clothing and Good Request Fulfillment (“Shopping”)

We may add additional opportunities to our volunteer management system throughout the year based on seasonal need. As an agency, our goal is to ensure volunteer opportunities are meaningful and mutually beneficial.

All volunteers are asked to submit a volunteer application/inquiry below and will be screened for placement into opportunities matching interest, skill, and schedule. All training and orientation will be provided. Our volunteer management system is called Vome and most volunteer opportunities are managed through this platform.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for a special project for your next community service day? Firefly Children and Family Alliance has several options for individual volunteers. Other opportunities may be available depending on the needs of our programs and the children and families we serve.

Become a Survivor Advocate

Volunteer Advocates take on-call shifts to respond to Indianapolis hospitals to support survivors during a sexual assault forensic exam. Volunteers listen, believe, and support survivors. Volunteers are equipped with materials and education around survivors’ rights and resources.

Volunteers should be 21+, have reliable transportation, and be located in or near Indianapolis. No experience required- all training is provided. Shifts occur around the clock every day of the week. We’ll work with your schedule! Volunteers receive calls to their personal cell phones and only need to travel to the hospital if they receive a call out. Volunteers support survivors ages 14 and up.

For more information, email Survivor Advocacy Volunteer Coordinator Betsy Hall at BHall@FireflyIN.org or click below to learn more about the role.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

We offer group volunteer opportunities, but we typically limit group sizes to ten or fewer individuals. We offer group volunteer experiences first to employees of our corporate partner companies, but we do offer opportunities for outside groups as well. Sign up for a group volunteer opportunity.

Corporate Partner Group Opportunities

As part of the benefits offered by our Corporate Partners program, we offer special customized volunteer experiences for partners. Experiences range from donation room sorting to field days with the youth residing in our shelter. Have a different idea? Let us know and we will try our best to accommodate.
