Support the ron carpenter welcome center

Help us honor the legacy of a visionary leader

Known today as Firefly Children & Family Alliance, the agency exemplifies Ron’s legacy each and every day. Ron impacted the organization by providing visionary leadership throughout his 27 years of service, 15 as President/CEO. He cast a vision to take services outside of Marion County and transitioned to providing adoption services throughout the state, as well as expanding a continuum of community-based services across Central Indiana. Ron’s vision empowered Firefly to serve 79,080 children and 42,718 families in 2022.

Ron also earned the trust and respect of Gene Glick, who ultimately invested in the creation of the children’s shelter at the Gene Glick Family Support Center. It was Ron’s desire to create a beautiful, safe facility to provide shelter and hope to the most vulnerable children in our community. Each year, the children’s shelter positively impacts the lives of more than 300 children and their families.

His visionary approach positioned the agency to be able to deliver high quality services to families in need for many years to come.

Because the demand for the children’s shelter is so high, Firefly is on a mission to expand its physical capacity and evolve its programmatic services. This will include a reconfiguration of the facility to allow for age-based living and programming as well as adding new case manager and therapist roles to the roster of shelter staff.

As a part of this effort, Firefly and the Carpenter family wish to permanently honor Ron’s legacy by establishing the Ron Carpenter Welcome Center at the children’s shelter in the Family Support Center. We are on a quest to raise $500,000 to support this effort. Julie Carpenter, Ron’s wife, has made the lead gift and asks you to consider joining her by making a gift in Ron’s name.
